The history of the HIDA-TAKAYAMA furniture began around 1,200 years ago when the first capital of our country was constructed in Asuka area, with 100 people every year travelled to the capital to work on its construction.
Those people, because of their excellent technologies, had been commandeered over the 400 year period, becoming to be called as the HIDA-TAKAYAMA craftsman.
With the history progressing since, the HIDA-TAKAYAMA craftsmen brought forth “HIDA-TAKAYAMAri Jingoro”, a renowned craftsman, constructed the streets and houses of HIDA-TAKAYAMA, as well as the festival floats, and presently continue to live in making furniture.
